Parc des Bastillons

The first place I arrived in Geneva.
The start of an exciting adventure!

A Music Library near parc des Bastillons that I never had the chance to visit. Hope to Visit next time I go to Geneva.. seems interesting!

Lovely windows and doors in Old Town.

Old Town & Old Man.

I bought ingredients for my stay in Geneva previously in Roma because I heard that it’s extremely expensive in this city. But there was a cheap market called COOP! I had already bought lots of pasta, salami, cheese, and tomato paste so this was pretty much my meal during the entire 2 week stay in Geneva.

My little desk at my 2-week home.

This is my favorite photo of Geneva. I took it while walking around the city alone. I had quite a lot of alone-time here and I enjoyed it very much.

A friend from the summer school invited the class to a home party. I really enjoyed time with the classmates here. After school, we would hang out by the lake, or go to the park with bottles of rose wine and have a pleasant time.

Visit to the UN and our guide. He looked like this nerdy rat lool he didn’t smile to us at all but he was cute and funny though. He seemed really smart and he had this vibe of an effective worker… I guess this is how you need to be in order to work at the UN.

Michelle Carlmy-Rey’s lecture.

Geneva University Summer School

2 weeks of an experience that I’ve dreamed of. To study with international peers, in an international environment. Meeting people from different background, learning to mingle with them, sharing ideas, experiencing all those things ‘outside my shell’, everything I’ve imagined to be ‘out there’. It was an experience that I’ve been longing for for 4 years and….. I found out something crucial about myself: I’ve become so closed and narrow-minded during my university years! It was definitely not exciting to see that part of myself, As I’ve always thought of myself to be at ease with multiculturalism. But although disappointing, I’m glad I did discover it, because that is the person I’ve become, and now that I know it, I am going to work on improving that weakness and try to be open and more courageous in everything I do!

I love these practical, little cars in Geneva. In Korea, you can notice that cars are used to show-off one’s wealth (well, not true wealth, like luxury designer bags or clothings, as people go beyond their means to own them) because you will mostly see expensive cars like Mercedez Benz, Audi, Porsche, BMW… How refreshing to see simple, practical lifestyles! You don’t really need luxury or expensive things to live well.
