Hermance
Twenty-five minutes by bus from “Les bains” and I got to this amazing and peaceful place; Hermance. So the last week, Estelle, the friend whom lent me a room for my 2-week stay in Geneva, invited me to stay at her parent’s house in France right next to the border of France and Switzerland in the Lac Leman. They live in a beautiful village called Messery. One can only go there by car because there are no bus stops there, so I met up Estelle in Hermance, the last bus stop near the village. I arrived at Hermance an hour before the planned hour, so I naturally (I always have this call from waters lol) headed to the lake. This place was really peaceful, and I could only see locals. This place is one of the places I would certainly find my way back when I revisit to Switzerland.

Messery
I stayed the weekend at Estelle’s place and, overall, it was the best part of my Europe trip!
- I had a weekend vacation that would cost me at least $200 for a similar trip elsewhere,
- for free!!!
It was Estelle’s belle soeur’s birthday and so her mom made this incredible dinner that night. I would never forget the delicious taste and the warm family time! At lunch, the same day, her mom did say that she prepared a birthday dinner and so I knew the meal was going to be special. At the dinner table, we were served with bread and a delicious paste and salami. Honestly, I thought that was the birthday dinner. It was alone by that so delicious! But I didn’t believe all the amazing blessings that came next; that was just an appetizer. I can’t remember the order and all the beautiful things that was served but just to name a few : aubergine stuffed by mozzarella cheese, thai spices inspired seafood pasta (omg this pasta was the best pasta I ever had in my whole entire life), and red wine. Estelle’s mom has her own little plantation of herbs, and she used it in her meals. That’s when I got introduced to rosemary, thyme, and basil, my three favorite herbs now.
Estelle’s father has a little boat, and we took it to give Estelle’s sister a ride back home from Hermance. With the boat, her father rode us to Nernier and Nyon before heading to Hermance, and he gave this full speed of the boat that was so freakin’ fun! It was so fast that it slapped the waves and if I didn’t firmly hold on to the metal handle, I would bump away from the boat. I had uncontrollable tears parting away from my eyes horizontally; stolen by the air without reaching my cheeks. This feeling is unforgettable! Estelle’s house was built by her grandfather and so the house is very antique. the room I stayed in felt as if I snicked into a 18th century french literature’s character’s room. I had a bike ride with Estelle from Messery to Yvoire, Nernier, and some other local villages. It was a real short trip to France’s village!

Yvoire

I am wearing Estelle’s hat that her mom insisted I wear.
“The sun is strong today!”
As she handed me this cute hat from a bundle of hats, I felt like I was back to being a little kid, who visited my friends house for the weekend.
Nernier

What a beautiful, private little town!
